Ethiopia, Ghana, Libya, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and South Africa). Report on the African region: India Exports to the African Continent accounts for around US $ 1404.22 million which amounts to around 16% of the total Pharma Exports and ranks 3rd place for Indian exports. South Africa, Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria and Kenya are the top 5 importers of pharmaceuticals in this region accounting for approximately 69% of the region's imports. Among India's exports while South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya feature among the top 5 of this region, Ghana and Tanzania are the other two in Top Five. India exports Pharmaceuticals to approximately 230 countries, 50 of them are situated in African region, and in the year 2010-11 together they have contributed 17.3%, India's exports of pharmaceuticals as per DGCIS statistics (USD 1798 million and INR 8194 cr in 2010-11). India's strengths in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing are recognized all over the world for its low cost in R&D and manufacturing capabilities. The manufacturing costs in India are 65% lower compared with USA. |
