Sub: Revised countries for LAC Delegation - Uruguay, Argentina, Ecuador and Peru during 14th August – 28th August 2010.
This is further to our earlier circular dated 22nd May 2010 informing about the proposed Business Delegation to Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil during 14th August - 28th August 2010.
We have been informed by our Embassy of India in Caracas, Venezuela that the country has been affected by global financial and economic crisis which has affected cash flow of hard currency. This has led to a restrictive foreign exchange control regime in Venezuela. Some of the Indian companies, which are already doing business with Venezuela, are facing problems due to severe delay in the payment of dollars by their Venezuelan partners, who have to necessarily depend on the government institution called CADIVI (Commission of Foreign Exchange Administration), the only authority in Venezuela which can release foreign exchange. Currently the Government of Venezuela is in the process of reviewing/re-organizing the foreign exchange regime. Several brokerage houses who were dealing with foreign exchange have been recently closed by the government so that the Central Bank of Venezuela could have total control over the transaction of foreign exchange. Moreover, our Mission does not foresee a good response from the Venezuelan companies for the BSM. Therefore, we have been advised by our Embassy to visit Venezuela at a more appropriate time in future.
In view of the above, Pharmexcil proposes not to visit Venezuela & proposed delegation would now be visiting Uruguay, Argentina, Ecuador and Peru from 14th August 2010 – 28th August 2010 as per following itinerary:

In view of the above, we invite applications from our members to participate in this delegation.
The BSMs/Delegation visits will be organized at selected locations in Uruguay, Argentina, Ecuador and Peru.
Following are the points, which may please be noted:

Cost towards Airfare would be around Rs. 1,60,000/- (Approx.) subject to the class of seat available in economy class at the time of booking of tickets and hotel charges would be around USD 100 per day per person on twin sharing basis.

Members whose export turnover during previous year is less than Rs.15.00 crores are eligible for MDA subject to the other guidelines of MDA scheme. In this case, 100% economy class excursion airfare will be reimbursed, subject to a maximum of Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only) per member. Interested members may send their Company Profile along with the name of the delegates & other details as per Application form enclosed.

Other details like venue etc will be communicated to interested members in due course.
Members participating in this delegation may kindly note the following important information:

Members accompanying the delegation could take advantage of the CPhI – South America Exhibition to be held from 17th to 19th Aug. 2010 at Buenos Aires, Argentina by visiting the exhibition on 18th evening / 19th Aug. 2010.

BSMs are proposed to be held at Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Guayaquil and Lima as per the advice of our Embassies in each of these countries.

Accommodation will be arranged by the Council on the basis of recommendation of our Missions abroad (Hotel tariffs will be informed shortly).

Other members who are interested to join the delegation may send us the delegation form, MDA application form and passport copy along with a non-refundable commitment/delegation fee of Rs. 40,000/- (Rupees Forty Thousand only). This amount is refundable only if the event is cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances at the instance of our Missions/Council.
